6 Tips to Calm Anxiety

Being in lockdown is the most important thing everyone can do right now for the collective nation’s well-being. However, it is also ok to feel a bit low and anxious and feel this situation sucks.

  • Walk daily the part of your brain that modulates the walking motion is the same part of the brain that controls fight or flight. While you walk you can’t feel anxious.

  • Don’t read the news all day. It can get overwhelming. Read and watch in the ideally in the morning so you stay informed but not too triggered.

  • Accept “it is what it is, right now” Life is a rollercoaster and we are in a dip right now but that rollercoaster will come to a higher point in time.

  • Focus on what you can do not what you can’t. I miss badminton so I’ve got creative and doing bodyweight exercises to strengthen for when I get back to court. If you’ve ever wanted to get fit now is the time to start!

  • Get good sleep, eat well, use mindfulness and avoid drinking too much alcohol to help you feel more in “balance”

  • Talk via phone, zoom, a messenger with uplifting friends.
